Here I show you how to make a simple grid  you can re-use to
copy  photos from A4 size up to 16 inches by 20 inches
You can modify the method for your own project
COPY PICTURES AND DRAWINGS
mark off an A4 sheet of paper into 1 inch squares ( grid 1 )
slip the sheet of paper into a clear ring
binder insert.
trace the grid onto the front of the
insert with a ballpoint pen ( grid 1 )
number the boxes across and down at
the edge
place your A4 photo inside of the
insert ( grid 1 )
mark off a sheet of paper 16 inch by
20 inch into 2
inch squares, lightly ( you will
erase the grid later )
number the boxes across and down along
edges as before ( grid 2 )
you can now begin to draw ( grid 2 )
Where the details on the photo
hit the grid lines on the small grid ( 1 )
repeat on the larger grid box for box
filling in details ( 2 )
Keep  going round all the boxes, filling
in details until your line  drawing is
done - in proportion  and centered on
the page  - automatically !
Erase the grid carefully leaving your
drawing in place
Add shading or colour as you wish and
you are finished
easy !
Keep the see though insert and you can use it over again for your other drawings from photos

HOW THE GRID WORKS
You have two grids of squares, one on top of your drawing or photo you wish to copy, ( 1 )
and grid no. ( 2  ), which  is drawn on the surface where you want your copy to appear - like your
canvas, paper or wall etc.
For a same size copy make both grids the same size. To enlarge, grid no.( 2 ) is drawn larger .
Grid ( 1 ) is over your original and you can see points on your grid where the image on original photo
intersects the lines on this grid. You now mark this same intersection on the corresponding place on
no. ( 2 ) grid . For example, if the corner of an eye " hits " grid no ( 1 ) at box 3 up and 3 across, then
on grid ( 2 ) 3 up and 3 across is where you will draw your mark in the same place. Repeat the
process for all boxes filling in all corresponding marks on your copy grid spaces until your drawing is
finished !
