HOW TO DRAW A CHILD FROM A SCHOOL PHOTO
Here is the school photo of
child supplied by a client
The brief is to draw the child in
conte pencil on textured artist
paper size 16 by 20 inches
I start the drawing by lightly
drawing in the main details with a
hb lead pencil
Here I start to go a bit heavier with
the pencil to see detail clearly
Using my black hb conte pencil i
start to draw in the eyes heavier
The shading is now roughly added
in the face
I add some of the darker shading
to the hair
The shading is now roughly
finished on the face and hair
Here I start to blend in the shading
on the lower part of the face using
a soft paper towel to give a
smooth finished look
I am now starting to finish blending
the shadows on the face
Now the face and hair is blended
and appears darker and smoother.
I have also shaded in the t shirt
Now here is the finished pencil
portrait ready for framing !
