Here is the photo of man supplied by
the client

The brief is to paint the man in oil
paints by hand on artist canvas size 16 by 12
inches

you can have a painting like this created by
hand from your photo

I start the drawing by
lightly drawing in the
main details with a hb
lead pencil

The underpainting
Here I paint a wash of
ochre over the pencil
and add to shadows -
wait till this dries

Overpaint
Using using heavier oil
paint i use dark flesh
colour on shadows

The lighter shading is
now roughly added in
the face

I add some of the
darker shadows to the
face and detail to eyes
and mouth - start
glasses and eyebrows

The shading is now
roughly finished on the
face and hair added.
More to glasses
Green colour is added to
shirt

Here I start to blend in
the shading on the
face giving a smooth
look

I am now starting to
finish blending the
shadows on the face
adding more darks to
heavier shadows

Now the face and hair is blended and
appears darker and smoother.
Details are added to glasses, eyebrows and
hair.
