I start the drawing by lightly
drawing in the main details with a
hb lead pencil

The underpainting
Here I paint a wash of ochre over
the pencil and add to shadows -
wait till this dries

Overpaint
Using using heavier oil paint i use
dark flesh colour on shadows

The lighter shading is now roughly
added in the face

I add some of the darker shadows
to the face and detail to eyes and
mouth - start glasses and eyebrows

Here I start to blend in the shading
